Technical purpose of product or process Cement II is a type of cement classified within the European standard EN 197-1, which defines the specifications and compositions of common cements. It is also known as Portland cement composite. The designation "Cement II" indicates that it is a cement that includes, in addition to clinker (the main component of traditional cement), supplementary materials that partially replace the clinker, making it more sustainable. This type of cement is more environmentally friendly compared to pure Portland cement (cement I) because it reduces the amount of clinker, which is the most intensive part in CO₂ emissions during its manufacturing. This makes it suitable for projects seeking to minimize the carbon footprint of construction, without compromising too much on the strength or durability of the material. The product is marketed according to its resistance capacity, so there are two references according to this classification in the production of Ciments Terraferma. The capacity or resistance class is classified in numbers that usually range from 32.5 to 52.5 MPa. In the case of Terraferma, they have Cement II 32.5 and 52.5. The A-L and B-L classification indicates the filler content. Furthermore, the letter R indicates that the product has a high initial resistance, the letter N, on the contrary, indicates a normal initial resistance. Based on this classification, the two types of cement II manufactured by Ciments Terraferma are: • Cement II A-L 42.5 R Initial resistance (2 days) (EN 196-1): 22-24 MPa Normal resistance (28 days) (EN 196-1): 48-52 MPa Setting principle (EN 196-3): 160-200 min Final setting (EN 196-3): 240-260 min Expansion (EN 196-3): 0-1 mm Insoluble residue (EN 196-2): < 1.5% Sulfate content (EN 196-2): 3-3.5% Chloride content (EN 196-2): 0-0.03% • Cement II B-L 32.5 N Initial resistance (2 days) (EN 196-1): 26-29 MPa Normal resistance (28 days) (EN 196-1): 36-39 MPa Setting principle (EN 196-3): 180-220 min Final setting (EN 196-3): 240-270 min Expansion (EN 196-3): 0-1 mm Sulfate content (EN 196-2): 2.5-3.5% Chloride content (EN 196-2): 0-0.03%

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
